Movie Review

Through The Fire, a documentary about Sebastian Telfair a high school basketball superstar,is faced with the decision that will determine the rest of his life.

Sebastian Telfair went to Lincoln High school,all through out his life hes played basketball.Starting his freshman year he has been working on his basketball career.His senior year comes around and he has to decide whether he wants to play in college,and get an education,or go straight into the NBA and "make that money."
Though this film is a documentary it has both on the edge suspense and thrilling moments.

here we have a young man growing up in the projects of Conney island,New York,but not much was said about his family and the way they were living.I mean here's a young man that is being contacted by many colleges and NBA teams,but not much is shown on how he handles all the stress and pressure from the critics saying "hes not ready."or "hes too small for the NBA."

Sebastian Telfair is a witness, He first hand experienced his dreams come true.Keep working for it,and you will succeed.

in my journalism class we saw a hip hop documentary called Beyond Beats and rhymes.This film is a very interesting movie for youth to watch because a lot of teenagers listen to this music.Its also relevant because they can educate themselves on how hip hop started and what it has become.some ideas in this film that i can relate to is that i grew up listening to some of the old school hip hop artist. For example, run dmc,mos def, and others.A certain line that stuck out for me was when they mentioned that men feminise other men as a form of an insult.He is a brilliant man for putting himself in the film because, in the beginning he talks about how people would talk about hip hop, but hes the one that defends it. Therefore he put himself in the film to say his opinion.His whole film was very well setup because he got famous rappers and hip hop artist in his documenatry, as well as the perspective of other aspiring hip hop artist.

Jokes On Me

April 1st, 2009.How far are people willing to go to get a cheap laugh? I dont have the slightest idea but i feel like im getting played today.do people really take april fools seriously? So far i have heard the saying "april fools!" like at least 10 times today. this day sucks! i cannot beleive im blogging about this. ooh well. thats it for now.

Acceptance

once upon a time there lived a beautiful girl. she went to high school, living the life of a typical teenage girl. She was 5'3, short black hair, a honey colored skin tone, and was an all around great girl. This girl sought excitement, she wanted to have fun. All her life she has lived under the rules and regulations of her parents. She had a boyfriend that wasn't the best influence on her, yet she loved him with all her heart and they have been together for all of high school. One Saturday afternoon, after her S.A.T's she was exhausted after a long day of testing. Her phone rings..Its her boyfriend saying "hey babe lets go out tonight." She knew that her parents didn't want her to go out after a long day of testing. Yet her rebellious side and her crave for excitement and fun overcame her. She said.."sure what time?" She hung up and they both decided that they would go out at 11:00 that night. Her parents weren't home so she went home and got ready for a night out in the city. she knew everything she was doing was wrong. Still she got all beautiful for a guy that under appreciates her.her boyfriend picks her up, They kiss hello and then they get on their way.. She saw that her boyfriend was acting and smelled strange. She noticed that he had been drinking. She started to get very worried but still her love for her boyfriend and her crave for excitement overcame her. 12:00 midnight not much traffic....BANG! next thing you know that beautiful young girl is breathing through a tube, and the doctor is telling the nurse that she only has a certain amount of time to live.The room is blurred,she turns her head to see that there was someone in the next bed covered by a sheet.She gains enough consciousness to speak. Who is that? who is in that bed nurse? tell me! The nurse stutters and says, your friend didn't make it.Tears drop from her face, But she cant weep. Nurse tell the other people that im so sorry please, tell them i didn't mean for this to happen.The nurse just stares at her and tears start creeping down her face.The beautiful girl looks at her again and says...tell my parents that i didn't want this to happen, tell them that i love them, and tell them m sorry.The nurse can no longer take it as she lets go her hand and leaves the room crying.The doctor comes over and asks the nurse....whats wrong? she looks at him and says Doctor im afraid i cant fulfill her final wishes.Why? he asks..because the the other people that were in the car crash was her parents...they were out looking for her.they didn't make it.

Suliman Ali

In my digital journalism class we got the oppurtunitty to create an audio slide show. Its a litlle slideshow thats about a certain person that we got to choose. For our project me and my partner choose to pick an advocate that was on campus. His name is Suliman Ali.Ive learned many things while making this slideshow. Ive learned to use a new software called soundslides, its a simple program that you can use to organize your pictures according to your audio.I thought that our slideshow was very succesfull because we had a very solid story line, and we kept the slideshow moving forward everytime.Some trouble shooting that i had, was actually learning the new software by myself. It was complicating the first day but after i figured it out everything moved smoothly.How i would do it diffrentley, would be getting more intresting photos. I feel like some photos in our slideshow kinda lost the attention of our viewers.Overall i felt that we explained the story of Mr. Suliman Ali very well and that our project was a sucess.

Relationships and Jealusy

Man oh man here we go again.High school another great place to experience the worst moments of your life!Big topic here today.Relationships and jealousy, two very simple but strong words.My personal favorite would have to be jealousy. why? there is so many mixed emotions and feelings that come with this word.EVERYONE gets jealous! i don't care if your the nicest nigga on this planet. EVERYONE gets jealous one way or another.I have felt this feeling and its not pretty trust me.what i would like to say to all the people out there is that jealousy will always exist. it can consume you and make u go out of YOUR FUCKING MIND!Don't give into it,and don't forget about the people that truly love you.Now, relationships,friends,boyfriends,girlfriends are all very powerful bonds between people.You may think something feels so right about one person,but what if that person is not what you really saw in the first place?I bring this up because i have being hearing the word two faced a lot lately. How do we know when somebody really shows their true colors?
Well fuck all that just as long as your happy then you keep doing what your doing.This goes out to everyone reading my pathetic words.I've said it before and ill say it again,don't forget the people that truly love you.I love all my friends,any shit goes down you know ill be there to pick you up, and beat down the nigga that made you fall in the first place.stay strong everyone,growing up is still taking place.don't lose hope,keep pursuing happiness.
